Benson Funeral Home
was established in June of 1962 by Raymond A. and Jeanette K. Benson. Our
original location was in the East Side Business District, in the renovated
former Calvary Baptist Church. This building housed a full-service funeral
home for 20 years; in 1982 it was sold to the Salvation Army.
In 1981 the current facility was built on 25th Avenue South. The new location
features two chapels, single-level handicapped-accessibility, and generous
parking. Benson was one of the first funeral homes in the state to offer
on-site crematory facilities.
In 1989 Mark J. Benson succeeded his father as President of Benson Funeral
Home and, in 1990, he purchased the Funeral Home and its sister company,
the Central Minnesota Cremation Service, which serves Benson Funeral Home
and other funeral homes throughout the state. Mark, along with his wife
Angie, continues Benson Funeral Home's family owned and operated tradition
into its fifth decade.
In 2001, the facility was completely remodeled. The building was expanded
and new, more convenient entrances and additional parking were added. With
an eye to the future, we continue to make plans to ensure that those who
visit will find our facility to be welcoming and comfortable. Just as important,
we continue to commit to staffing the funeral home with a highly-qualified,
caring staff dedicated to serving families, friends and loved ones of those
who have died.
