     Lillian Catherine Rivers, age 94, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at CentraCare Health-Monticello Care Center, Monticello, MN.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waite Park, MN. Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to Mass at the church on Saturday. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 PM at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Waite Park, MN.
     Lillian was born January 27, 1920 in Albany, MN to Albert H. and Anna (Winter) Krebs. Lillian went to the local Albany Catholic grade school, then the public high school. At the age of 17 she was accepted and attended St. Mary’s Hospital and University Schools of Nursing, graduating with a degree in nursing. Lillian worked at Minneapolis hospitals, the Minneapolis War Memorial Blood Bank and later at St. Cloud Hospital. During her time in St. Cloud, she attended the College of St. Benedict earning a Certificate in Cardiology.
     Lillian married Sidney Arthur Rivers on May 4, 1940 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany, MN. The couple lived and raised their family in Minneapolis and later in Waite Park, MN. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Waite Park. Lillian has lived in Park Garden Apartments at Sterling Park in Waite Park for the last 10 years, where she felt very safe and happy. A devout Catholic, Lillian regularly attended daily Mass and rosary in a chapel only one floor away.
     She is survived by ten children, Bruce Rivers, Judith (Brian) Doyle, Curtis (Vicki) Rivers, Douglas (Joan) Rivers, Paul (Nancy) Rivers, Jeanne (Steve) Pettersen, Josephine (Jeff) Holker, Thomas (Marie) Rivers, Donald (Colleen) Rivers, and Margaret Roytek, 42 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, sister, Ione Woessner, and brother, Allan (Rose) Krebs.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sidney on April 30, 2001, son, Lawrence Rivers; two daughters-in-law, Ellen and Pat Rivers, brother, Earl Krebs, two infant granddaughters, Mary Lillian Rivers and Marie Joy Pettersen, great grandson, Daniel Bingham, and granddaughter-in-law, Nan Rivers.
     Memorials are preferred to All Saints Academy.
