     Lawrence Louis DeMorrett, age 83, St. Cloud, MN, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
     Lawrence was born September 18, 1931 in Watkins, MN to Claus and Katherine (Nohner) DeMorrett. He graduated from Eden Valley-Watkins High School. Lawrence served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. On August 25, 1956 Lawrence married Adeline Frances Welsh in Tracy, MN. He lived between Sandstone and St. Cloud. In July 2014 Lawrence moved to Arlington Place Assisted Living in St. Joseph, MN and attended the VA Adult Day Care in St. Cloud.
     Lawrence was employed by Bureau of Prisons in Sandstone, MN as a purchasing agent and federal auditor of the prison system, Sandstone Public Schools as a bus driver, and Arlan Krantz Ford as a bookkeeper. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud and St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Sandstone, Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council 4798, Sturgeon Lake, MN and McGolrick Assembly 4th Degree, Duluth, MN, and Hartley M. Robey American Legion Post #151, Sandstone, MN. Lawrence enjoyed woodworking, crafts, camping, fishing, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and especially spending time with family and friends and all the family pets. Lawrence particpated in an Honor Flight in 2014.
     Survivors include daughters, Patrice DeMorrett of Sandstone, MN; Lisa Hickman of St. Cloud, MN; four grandchildren, Justin (Carrie) DeMorrett of St. Cloud, MN; Matthew (Brittney Sorensen) Hickman of Rochester, MN; Nicholas Hickman of St. Cloud, MN; and Katie (Mark Mueller) Hickman of St. Cloud, MN; and close friends Ken and Lou Chambard, Irene (the late Harold) Marihart, Marilyn Juhl and many nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Adeline on September 21, 2010, brothers Al (Laverne), Carl (Marion), and Ervin (Florence) DeMorrett; sisters, Alma (George) Nelson, and Martha Lee.
