Gary B. Ahles, age 63, St. Cloud, MN, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Gary was born December 13, 1951 in St. Cloud, MN to Ted and Lorraine (Enderle) Ahles. He grew up in Rockville and St. Cloud, MN. Gary graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1974. He married Vicki Schafer in 1974. They later divorced. On June 10, 1989 Gary married Kari (Rasmussen) Hedlund in St. Cloud, MN. He was employed by Century Link as a line technician for 34 years, retiring in 2008. Gary was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, lake time, sports, walking and had a passion for history. He also enjoyed gatherings with a group of guys, whose friendship extended as far back as 7th grade. Gary treasured time spent with his family, especially his granddaughters. He dedicated his entire life to family with a quiet strength that was awe-inspiring.
Survivors include his wife, Kari Ahles of St. Cloud, MN; children, Kristin Ahles of Minneapolis, MN; Katie (Larry) Fallang of Waite Park, MN; Erin (David) Carlsen of Princeton, MN; Cole Hedlund of St. Cloud, MN; granddaughters, Aaliyah and Dasia Carlsen and Anna Fallang; brother, Robert (Marty) Ahles of St. Cloud, MN; sisters, Pat DeWenter of Weslaco, TX; Linda (Terry) Pennaz of St. Cloud, MN; Sandy (Mick) Justin of Nisswa, MN; father-in-law, Everett (Delores) Rasmussen of St. Cloud, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Janice Rasmussen, brother-in-law, Bob DeWenter, and niece, Shelly Freeman. |
