Raymond J. Jansen, age 84, of St. Cloud, died Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Foley Nursing Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Raymond was born October 28, 1930 in Albany, MN to Gerhard and Adelaide (Holltan) Jansen. He married Genevieve Harren on July 20, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice, MN. Ray honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1953. He worked at Woodcraft until joining the St. Cloud Parks Department in 1962. Ray worked there until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Ray enjoyed woodworking, reading, watching western movies, taking trips to the casino, playing cards and throwing horseshoes.
Survivors include his children, Janet (Dave) Jansen-Knoblach of Olympia, WA, Joyce (John) Lynch of St. Cloud, MN, Jill (Jim) Zanardi of St. Cloud, MN, Jody (Jim) Studniski of Aitkin, MN, Col. Jayne Jansen of Ankeny, IA, Dave (Dawn) Jansen of Sartell, MN, Diane Jansen-Marana of St. Cloud, MN, Dan (Carol) Jansen of St. Joseph, MN; sister-in-law, Patricia (Robert) Schaub of Peoria, IL; 20 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve “Gen”; his parents Gerhard and Adelaide; brother, Richard Jansen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marina Jansen, Gertrude (Kenneth) Chalin, Vicky (Charles) Kenning and Georgene (John) Kuklok.
