     Eugene Joseph Jaeger, age 89, St. Cloud, MN died Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the St. Cloud Veterans Administration Medical Center.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Monday, August 10, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
     Eugene was born August 19, 1925 in St. Cloud, MN to George and Anna (Hengel) Jaeger. He served in the United States Army from February 24, 1944 to May 10, 1946, serving in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines. On October 3, 1946 Eugene was united in marriage to Lillian Bares in St. Cloud, MN. He was employed by Donovan’s Meats, Elliot's Food as a route salesman and then for Central Locksmiths. Eugene was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, a life member of St. Cloud VFW Post #428, and Waite Park American Legion Post #428. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and playing cribbage. Eugene was also an avid fan of the Twins baseball team.
     Survivors include his wife, Lillian Jaeger of St. Cloud, MN; son, Michael (Barb) Jaeger of St. Joseph, MN; daughter, Janet (Hilary) Stellmach of Sauk Rapids, MN; brother, Joseph Jaeger of Cokato, MN; 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Thomas Jaeger, and three sisters, Mildred Kringle, Patricia Benson and Donna Mae Jaeger.
     The family would like to thank the staff of St. Cloud Veterans Administration Medical Center Adult Day Care and Hospice for the care and compassion they provided Eugene.
