     Werner Leland Allen, age 89, Sauk Rapids, MN, formerly of St. Cloud, MN, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Good Shepherd Apartments, Sauk Rapids, MN.
     A celebration of Werner’s life will be held Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral arrangements by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Werner was born August 29, 1926 in Star Lake, MN to John and Wilhelmina (Jordin) Allen. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. On June 10, 1948 Werner married Doris M. Christensen. Werner and Doris moved from Litchfield, MN to Alton, IA, but ultimately settled in St. Cloud, MN. Together they launched Allen’s Heating and Air Conditioning Service Company which they owned and operated until their retirements in 1992.
     Werner enjoyed carving, fishing and hunting and spending time at their cottage on Lake Minnebelle. Werner and Doris also enjoyed traveling, periodically to Florida, but also to Sweden, Germany and France. Following their retirements, they also volunteered at the St. Cloud Hospital for nearly a decade. Werner was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Local 34 Sheet Metal Union, St. Cloud Gas Board, and life member of St. Cloud American Legion Post #76 and St. Cloud VFW Post #428.
     Werner will be remembered as a man of strong faith and one who was patient, caring, giving, always forgiving, and never judgmental.
     Survivors include daughters, Kristine Sundberg of Shorewood, MN; and Patti (Bob) Gartland of St. Cloud MN; son Michael (Sandie) Allen of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Ross (Jenny) Sundberg of Burnsville, MN; Britta (Phil) Nelson of Chanhassen, MN; Bobby Gartland of Clearwater, MN; Lacey (James) Schirmers of St. Cloud, MN; and Jennie (Ben) Weber of Sauk Rapids, MN; great-grandchildren, Jadyn Betzold, Carson and Austin Weber, Addison, Levi and Genevieve Schirmers, Blake and Hunter Sundberg, and Logan Nelson; brothers, Archie (Bernice) Allen of Hannibal, MO; and Andy (Ruth) Allen of Litchfield, MN.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris on January 22, 2013; sister, Sally Nelson; brothers, Willard, Ray, Lloyd, Harold, Arnie, Herb and step sister, Fern Holt.
     In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice House.
