Dorothy Clara Peterson, age 99, New Braunfels, TX, formerly of St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in New Braunfels, TX.
There will be no service at the present time. Burial will be in Wendell Hill Cemetery, Milaca, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Dorothy was born August 1, 1916 in Milaca, MN to Carl H. and Ida (Ingman) Chuyler. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1934 and Milaca Teacher Training in 1935. Dorothy also attended St. Cloud State University. She taught school in rural Mille Lacs County. On July 14, 1945, Dorothy married Raymond R. Peterson at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca, MN.
Dorothy was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud where she worked as a secretary, directed the Children's Choir and was a member of Senior Choir. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army Food Kitchen in St. Cloud.
Survivors include son, Terry (Karen) Peterson of Arlington, TX; daughter, Merrikay (Alan) Compton of Garden Ridge, TX; three grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica) Compton, Melissa (Zacariaz) Martinez and Alex Compton; two great granddaughters, Emily and Allison Compton; two step grandchildren, Sean Muller and Gwen Prater; and six step great grandchildren, Cameron, Kathleen and Jason Muller, and Tori, Tylor and Cyrus Prater.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond on November 29, 2009, one brother and four sisters.
