    William E. “Bill” Fahrney, 77, of Sartell, formerly of Cold Spring died Monday, March 14, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Memorial services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Avon Community Church. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Boonsboro, MD. Arrangements with Benson Funeral Home St. Cloud.
    
    William Earl Fahrney was born on November 21, 1938 in Washington D.C. to P. Earl and Mary (Nehrig) Fahrney. Bill was married to Jean Ann Alfred on October 8, 1960. He worked for many years as a civil engineer and loved to tell people about Jesus. Bill was active in the Minnesota Transportation Alliance and lobbied on its behalf both in the MN legislature and in Washington D.C. Bill loved to be outdoors. In particular he enjoyed camping, downhill and cross country skiing, biking and rollerblading, especially on the Lake Wobegon Trail. Bill will be remembered as a people person who invested in people, loved people and saw the best in others. He was an active member at Avon Community Church
    
    Survivors include his wife of 55 years Jean Fahrney of Sartell; daughters, Sue (Steve) Kropf of Eagle, ID and Deb (Erik) Eggen of Baxter, MN; grand children, Stacy Bahrenfuss of Eagle, ID, Jack Eggen of Brainerd and Lieutenant Clark Eggen currently serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq; sisters, Phyllis (George) Raynor of Dillon, CO and Mary Lou (Craig) Spottswood of Nokomis, FL. Bill is preceded in death by his parents.
