Joan Elizabeth Mork, age 79, St. Cloud, MN, died Monday, August 29, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Sartell, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery, Worthington, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Joan was born August 20, 1937 in Worthington, MN to Christian J. and Nora B. (Hokeness) Ehlers. She married John Mork on June 12, 1960 at First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. Joan began as a church organist at the age of 12 and continued as church organist throughout the rest of her life. She taught music for the Worthington School district and Worthington Community College as well as private piano lessons. Joan directed the Worthington Chamber Singers for 10 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sartell, MN.
Joan and her husband John lived in Worthington, MN until 2008 when they moved to the St. Cloud area. They wintered in Arizona. Joan enjoyed staying active, reading, and was an amazing cook. She will be remembered by her family for her strong faith, her talent and love for music as well as being a humble, gracious, family centered and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, John Mork of St. Cloud, MN; sons and daughters, Allen (Mary) Mork of Cambridge, MN; David (Jane) Mork of Osakis, MN; Bill (Volda) Mork of Yuma, AZ; Anna (John) Roberson of DeLand, FL; Karin (Brent) McKendrick of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, John (Linda) Ehlers of Buffalo, WY; sister, Joyce (Eugene) Ackerman of Okoboji, IA; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Susan Mork.
