Roland “Rolly” Schroer, age 97, St. Cloud, MN died on Saturday, September 24 at Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell, MN.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday, followed by a fellowship lunch. Burial ceremony will follow at Corinna Cemetery, near Annandale, MN. Funeral arrangements are through Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Rolly was born on April 13, 1919 in Renville, MN to Henry W. and Lydia (Pankow) Schroer. He met his future bride, Paula Seltz, in 1938, while both were students at the University of Minnesota, and they married on November 10, 1941 in Howard Lake, MN. Rolly served in the US Navy from 1942-1946, and in the Naval reserves until 1950. After World War II ended, Paula and Rolly moved to St. Cloud in 1946. Rolly was a pharmacist for Dan Marsh Drugs for many years and later became co-owner of the Hapeth Prescription Shop at St. Cloud Medical Group, where he worked until his retirement in 1982. He was member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud for 70 years, and served as president of the congregation for a number of years.
Survivors include his son, Steve Schroer of Boulder, CO; son-in-law, David W. (Karen) Feeder of Loveland, CO; four grandchildren, David (Gail) Feeder, Melissa (Aron) Feeder Yoder, Bridger Schroer, and Colter Schroer; and four great grandchildren, Abby, Brad, and Paige Feeder, and Cora Jane Yoder.
Rolly was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Paula on Dec. 2, 2000, and his daughter, Susan Schroer Feeder on November 4, 1996.
Memorials are preferred to Prince of Peace Lutheran School in St. Cloud, directly or to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
