     Roberta E. (Heen) Rud, age 97 of St. Cloud, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at St. Benedict's Senior Community, St. Cloud, MN.
     Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be on hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.
     Roberta was born on May 23, 1919 in Hunter, North Dakota to Robert and Hanna (Ingebrigtson) Caruth. She moved to Grand Forks, ND at the age of 4 years. Roberta attended Wilder Elementary, Central High, and The University of North Dakota where she earned her BS Degree. Roberta did graduate work at University of Minnesota, St. Cloud State University and Mankato State University to earn the equivalent to an MA Degree.
     Roberta taught Science and Home Economics at Hatton High School in Hatton, ND from 1941-1943. She married George Heen on August 26, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck, ND. They lived and taught in Seobey, MT, Grafton, ND, Crosby-Ironton and Aitkin, MN. In 1967 they moved to St. Cloud where Roberta taught for St. Cloud District 742 and St. Cloud Technical College until her retirement in 1982. She also was involved in Girl Scouting for 25 years as well as summer sports programs. She liked bridge, Bible Study, tennis and golfing.
     Upon her retirement Roberta married Loyal A. Rud on February 19, 1982 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She and Loyal spent winters in Texas and Arizona golfing. They also traveled Canada and the U.S. provinces and states. Roberta was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1967 where she was a member of Anna Circle and taught Sunday School. Roberta was also a member of Sons of Norway Trollheim Lodge 511, MEA, PERA and SCREAM.
     She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Heen of Andover, MN; step daughter-in-law, Sandy Rud of Minitrista, MN; two grandchildren, Berit and Andrew Heen; two step-grandchildren Leah Richardson and Molly Papstein; five step-great grandchildren, Austin, Andrew and Ayden Papstein, Sydney and Ohlin Richardson; sister, Donna Sharkey of Bismarck, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, George Heen on December 27, 1969 and Loyal Rud on March 1, 1988, stepsons, Sheldon Rud and Kenneth Rud, and sister, Lois Charboneau.
