     Dr. Alyn N. Dull, age 91, Sauk Rapids, MN, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
     Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Grace United Methodist Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. There will be an Eastern Star Prayer Service at 6:30 PM followed by a Masonic Prayer service at 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
     Alyn was born September 3, 1925 in Hewitt, MN to Harold F. and Edith (Braddon) Dull. He graduated from Hewitt High School in 1943, enlisted in the United States Army and served in the famous 86th Infantry Division during World War II with combat experience in Germany and Bavaria with additional duty in the Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star, served as a rifleman, bazooka man, squad leader, platoon guide and platoon sergeant. The 86th Division was one of two Army Infantry Divisions to serve in both Europe and the Pacific. He was awarded the Blackhawk Warrior Award for service to the 86th Blackhawk Division Association in 1997 after serving 9 years as a member of the Board of Directors, 2nd. Vice President and Membership Chairman.
     On August 20, 1947 Alyn was united in marriage to Anna Lou Beving in Deer Creek, MN. He earned an under graduate degree (B.S.) at St. Cloud State University and a Masters Degree (M.Ed.) and Doctors degree (Ed.D..) at the University of South Dakota, a teacher of mathematics for over 38 years, beginning as a high school mathematics teacher in Truman, MN (1949-1956). Dr. Dull was a member of the faculty at St. Cloud State University for 31 years (1956-1987). His tenure at St. Cloud State University included a period of 10 years as mathematics department chairman. Dr. Dull participated as a speaker and workshop leader at national, state, and local meetings for teachers of mathematics, served as a mathematics consultant to many Minnesota schools. He was recognized for expertise in the teaching of mathematics and the use of the computer in the elementary school. Dr. Dull retired as a professor of mathematics and computer science in 1987.
     Alyn was raised a Master Mason in North Star Lodge #23, St. Cloud, MN on April 6, 1957. He served as the Master of North Star Lodge #23 in 1963, held membership in York Rite and Scottish Rite bodies, St. Cloud Shrine Club and Go-Kart Patrol (Charter member), Osman Shrine Temple, St. Paul, MN, Order of Eastern Star Granite Chapter No 5 and Masonic Education and Research Lodges. Alyn was a member of the Board of Directors of the Masonic Cancer Center Fund, Inc., the Minnesota Masonic Foundation and the Minnesota Masonic Home. He also served the International Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay as an active member and finally as an emeritus member. Alyn was honored as a Knight Commander of the Court of Honour and as an Inspector General Honorary 33rd degree of the Scottish Rite, and with membership in the Red Cross of Constantine, the Royal Order of Scotland, the York Rite College, Knight Masons and the Allied Masonic Degrees. He was presented the Hiram Award by North Star Lodge, the Crown Jewel by Osman Shrine Temple and the DeMolay Legion of Honor by Minnesota DeMolay. Alyn was elected Grand Master of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Minnesota for 1983, was installed at the 130th Annual Communication in St. Cloud on March 25, 1983. In that post, he lead the organization, which had some 48,000 members in 238 Masonic Lodges throughout the state.
     Alyn was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Administrative Board. He served on the board of directors of the St. Cloud State University Alumni Association, the St. Cloud State University Foundation, Wapicada Golf Club and the St. Cloud Executive Club. Alyn also served as treasurer of the St. Cloud State University Alumni Association, treasurer of St. Cloud American Legion Post No. 76, and served the Elks through their Scholarship Selection Committee. He received the St. Cloud State University Alumni Service Award in 1988.
     Alyn is survived by his love and partner of 69 years, Anna L. Dull of Sauk Rapids, MN; sisters, Marvel (Kenneth) Blaske of Hewitt, MN; Joan (Harold) Doty of Underwood, MN; many cherished nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Viola F. Coleman, and brother Delos “Jack” W. Dull.
     Memorials may be directed to the “Alyn and Anna Mathematics Scholarship” at the St. Cloud State University Foundation, Minnesota Masonic Charities or Grace United Methodist Church.
