     Jacob Andrew Maehren, Jr., age 49, of Rice, MN, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at his home.
     Memorial gathering celebrating Jay’s life will be Sunday February 26, 2017 from 1:00 -6:00 PM at the Family Home at 75 75th Street NE, Rice, MN. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
     Jay was born on March 15, 1967 in St. Cloud, MN to Jacob Sr. and Joan (Savage) Maehren. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1992 during the Gulf War . Jay was married to Michelle Gangl on August 4, 1990 in St. Cloud, MN. He was a member of the St. Cloud Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith and worked at American Door Works for over 15 years.
     Jay enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching NASCAR (his favorite driver was Matt Kenseth), and cheering on the MN Vikings.
     Jay is survived by his wife, Michelle of Rice; sons, Thomas (Kathy) Maehren, Sr. of St. Cloud, Noah Maehren and Dovie Tholl of Rice, and Joshua (Robyn) Seehusen of St. Cloud; father and step-mother, Jacob (Carolyn) Maehren, Sr. of St. Cloud; siblings, Ione Vierzba of St. Cloud, Stephen (Jill) Maehren of Foley, David Maehren of Waite Park, Amy (Jeff) Faustch of St. Cloud, and Nicole (Jason) Smith of Sartell; grandchildren, Dakota Warner, Thomas Maehren Jr., Jackson and Chase Seehusen, Kevin “Izzy” Maehren-Tholl; step-brothers and sisters, Tricia Malikowski of St. Cloud, Matthew (Cassie) Cummings of Princeton, Kristin Cummings of Elk River, and Garrett Cummings of St. Cloud; father and mother in-law, Roger and Mary Jane Gangl of Sartell; brother and sister in-law, Mike (Kim) Gangl of Kimball, Robin Gangl and Jesse Wells of Sartell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
     He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Maehren on December 1, 1996 and his son, Timothy Maehren on April 26, 2008.
     Memorials are preferred.
