     June J. Thyen, age 62, Waite Park, MN died Thursday, October 18, 2007, after a courageous battle with ALS, at the Foley Nursing Home, Foley, MN.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 22, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waite Park, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, October 21, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Waite Park, MN.
     June was born June 24, 1945 in Paynesville, MN to Harold E. and Irma B. (Theisen) Schultz. On January 24, 1975 she married Eugene “Gene” A. Thyen at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waite Park, MN. June was employed as a Trained Medical Assistant for St. Scholastica Convent of St. Cloud. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a homemaker’s group called “Luxemburg Ladyslippers”, and a knitting group called the “Forget-Me-Knits”. June also served as a camp host at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park. She enjoyed camping, knitting, flower gardens, sewing, bird watching, trips to Alaska, and time spent with her grandchildren.
     Survivors include her husband, Gene Thyen of Waite Park, MN; sons and daughter, Michael (Sarah) Thyen of Virginia, MN; Andrew (Cortney) Thyen of Elk River, MN; Mitchell (Michelle) Thyen of Minneapolis, MN; Jeanna (Samuel Vazquez A.) Thyen of Waite Park, MN; sisters, Mary Margaret Schultz of St. Louis Park, MN; Catherine Schultz of Fairbanks, AK; and three grandchildren, Brooke Thyen, Emilio Vazquez-Thyen, and Beaux Thyen.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Harold Schultz Jr.
     The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice, Foley Nursing Home and the ALS Association for the care they provided June.
